“Techs are paid hourly, never on commission, so they have zero incentive to upsell; offers free second opinions on any replacement quote, 4.9 stars across 12,000+ reviews, and flat-rate pricing in writing since 1983.”
“Advertises free second opinions on major work and free system replacement proposals, letting you cross-check a replacement recommendation at no cost.”
“Employee-owned DFW company since 1966 with a 4.8 rating and customer reviews specifically praising honest, no-pressure service on both repairs and replacements.”
“Mentioned in a forum thread but with mixed pricing reports, and no honesty-specific differentiator.”
“Rave reviews in one neighborhood forum thread, but a smaller The Colony shop with limited verifiable history.”
“One forum recommendation for honest evaluations, but no verifiable ratings or business details on its own site.”
“Reputable Dallas company but no published free-second-opinion or commission-free policy like the top picks.”

“Its own site explicitly offers free second opinions on AC replacement in its DFW service area.”
“Its second-opinion page offers a no-charge assessment when a homeowner already has another contractor's quote.”
“Its Dallas replacement page offers direct assessment and free replacement quotes.”
“Its second-opinion terms require replacement advice or repairs over $500 and Dallas-city coverage is less clear.”
“Its free second-opinion offer fits but its Waxahachie base makes exact Dallas coverage uncertain.”

“Publishes the actual decision math DFW techs use (repair cost times system age, replace above $5,000-$6,000 given North Texas runtime) and offers a free second-opinion read on a repair quote with no obligation.”
“Top-rated Dallas shop with decades of experience whose techs quote diagnostics before work, a good pair of hands for an honest repair-or-replace call.”
“Dallas-based shop with a low-cost $79 repair diagnostic and upfront pricing, so you get the opinion before a big spend.”
“Advertises upfront pricing and free estimates, which helps, but its site leans to sales visits rather than publishing decision guidance.”
“Publishes a genuinely useful DFW-specific repair-vs-replace guide, but the shop is based in Roanoke, farther from central Dallas.”
“Large, reputable 24/7 shop, but nothing on its site that signals a no-pressure second-opinion posture.”
“Excellent installer, but its site is oriented to new installations rather than independent repair-or-replace diagnosis.”

We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in October 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
