Siri guide

How to get your business recommended by Siri

When someone asks Siri to find a business nearby, the answer comes from Apple Maps. So getting recommended by Siri means claiming and completing your place card in Apple Business, keeping your Yelp page strong, and making the data companies Apple licenses agree with your website.

Where Siri gets local business information

Siri does not keep its own business directory. Ask it for a plumber, a dentist or a coffee shop and it hands back places from Apple Maps, the same place cards people see in the Maps app, Spotlight and Safari.

Apple Maps builds those place cards from three kinds of input. The first is what you tell Apple directly in Apple Business, the free portal that replaced Apple Business Connect on April 14, 2026. Apple says it reaches customers across Maps, Mail, Wallet, Siri and more.

The second is licensed data. Apple's own Maps attribution page lists business listings data from Foursquare, Localeze, Yext, Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Factual and dataPlor, among others. If you never claim your listing, these feeds decide what Apple shows.

The third is reviews. The same page credits Yelp for reviews, and Yelp's 2026 filings name Apple Maps as a platform that shows licensed Yelp content. Apple Maps also collects its own ratings from iPhone users.

Siri itself changed in September 2026. iOS 27 shipped Siri AI, which Apple says can draw on broad world knowledge and take actions in apps. Apple has not published how Siri AI chooses between local businesses, so treat Apple Maps as the source and do not expect a separate Siri listing.

What Siri appears to weigh

Apple does not publish a ranking formula for Maps or Siri. Siri answers with nearby places, so distance from the person asking matters first. Then the match between the request and your category and services. Then the ratings and reviews on your place card.

Completeness matters too. A place card with hours, photos, a website and an action button gives Siri something to read out and something for the customer to tap. A bare listing with a wrong phone number gives it a reason to read someone else.

Since August 2026, businesses in the US and Canada can also buy ads in Apple Maps. Apple says they are clearly marked and appear in Maps search results and in a new Suggested Places section. Apple has not said that ads appear in Siri's spoken answers, and the free work below comes first either way.

“Siri reads from Apple Maps. If your place card is wrong, Siri is wrong about you.”

Step by step, how to get Siri to name you

  1. 01

Claim your location in Apple Business

Go to business.apple.com, sign in with an Apple Account, search for your business and verify it. If you used Apple Business Connect before, Apple says your claimed locations and place card details moved over automatically.

  2. 02

    Set the right primary category

In your location's details in Apple Business, pick the category a customer would say out loud, such as Plumber or Dentist, then add secondary categories for the services you also offer.

  3. 03

Fill in hours, holiday hours, phone and website

In the same location record, enter regular hours for every day, add special hours ahead of holidays, and use the phone number and website address that appear on your own site.

  4. 04

Add photos and a custom action

Upload a cover photo and logo in Apple Business, then add an action such as book, reserve or get a quote that links to your booking page. Apple says actions can link to your website or app.

  5. 05

Claim and fill out your Yelp page

Apple Maps credits Yelp for reviews. Log in at biz.yelp.com and match your name, phone, hours and service area to Apple Business. Yelp does not allow asking for reviews, so let a sign or your receipts say you are on Yelp.

  6. 06

Fix your data at the licensed sources

Search for your business on Foursquare and check the listing. If you use a listing service such as Yext, confirm it sends to Apple. Wrong data in these feeds can come back if your claimed card is thin.

  7. 07

    Use Showcases for timely offers

In Apple Business, a Showcase puts a seasonal offer, new service or promotion on your place card. It gives the card fresh, specific information a customer can act on.

  8. 08

Read your location insights each month

Apple Business shows how people find and interact with your place card, including searches, views and taps on actions. A drop in searches or taps is a sign something changed.

How to check whether Siri recommends you today

Stand somewhere your customers would be, or ask from a phone set to that area. Say what they would say. "Hey Siri, find a plumber near me." "Hey Siri, who is the best dentist in Plano?" "Hey Siri, is there an emergency electrician open now?" Then type the same requests into the Siri app or Apple Maps search.

For each one, write down which businesses come back, in what order, and what Siri says about the first one. Open your own place card in Apple Maps and check every line, hours, phone, website, category, rating and photos. If a competitor comes back first, compare their card to yours. The gap is usually obvious.

Answers change with location and time of day, so one test proves little. Repeat it from a few spots and on a few days. Our free pick report runs real customer questions through AI assistants and shows who gets picked and why, so you can see the pattern without testing by hand.

Questions we get asked

How do I get my business on Siri?

Claim your location in Apple Business at business.apple.com, which feeds Apple Maps. Siri answers local requests from Apple Maps, so a claimed, complete place card is how your business shows up on Siri. There is no separate Siri listing to submit.

Where does Siri get business information?

From Apple Maps. Apple Maps combines what owners enter in Apple Business with licensed listings data from companies including Foursquare, Localeze, Yext and Tripadvisor, plus reviews from Yelp, according to Apple's own Maps attribution page.

Does Siri use Google or Google reviews?

Siri's local answers come from Apple Maps, not Google Maps, and Apple's attribution page credits Yelp, not Google, for reviews. Your Google Business Profile still matters for other assistants, but it does not fix your Apple Maps listing.

Is Apple Business Connect the same as Apple Business?

Apple Business replaced Apple Business Connect on April 14, 2026. Apple says existing Business Connect data, including claimed locations, place card details and photos, moved over automatically. It is free.

Can I pay to be recommended by Siri?

Apple sells ads in Apple Maps search results in the US and Canada since August 2026, and you must claim your location first. Apple has not said that ads appear in Siri's spoken answers. The free place card work is what Siri reads.

How long does it take for Siri to show my changes?

Apple does not publish a timeline. After you save changes in Apple Business, check your place card in Apple Maps every few days, then repeat the spoken test once it shows the new details.
