home services launches in 2026 that let assistants request quotes or call for the customer, from Google, OpenAI, Thumbtack, Angi and Alexa+.

Assistants have started to act
In May 2026 Google said its assistant would call businesses for customers in home repair, beauty and pet care. Meta Muse and Instinct both added calling in September. OpenAI is testing a Get Quote flow for local services, with plumbing as its example. Thumbtack runs an app inside ChatGPT, and Alexa+ books through Thumbtack and Angi.
Each of these ends the same way. Something has to accept the request. If your site has no way to take it, the agent calls, hits a phone tree or voicemail, and moves to the next name. Or the marketplace takes the request and sells it back to you.
Most businesses are not ready
We checked 236 independent local service sites in Dallas and Phoenix. A quarter offered any online booking. Among the ones already paying for Google ads, 42% had neither a price nor booking. They pay to be found and then give an agent nothing to finish.
Plumbing and HVAC are ahead because many already run ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro schedulers. Pest control, water damage and roofing are furthest behind. Either way, a scheduler hidden behind a button that loads only on click is invisible to many agents.
“An agent does not wait on hold. The business it can finish with is the one it books.”
What we build
- 01
A request path on your site
A booking or quote page an agent can read and complete without a login, a pop up or a call. Name, address, problem, preferred time, submitted.
- 02
Your existing scheduler, made reachable
If you run ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber or a practice system, we expose it properly and link it from your Google profile, where Reserve with Google supports it.
- 03
The facts an agent needs first
Service area by ZIP, a starting price or how you quote, and when you can come, stated on the same page so the agent can match the request before it sends it.
- 04
A phone path an agent can use
Clear hours and a number that reaches a person or a message that takes the job, so a calling agent is not dropped by a menu.
- 05
Tagging for AI sourced requests
Requests and calls that come from assistants tagged in your call tracking, so we can count them instead of guessing.
Your calendar, not a marketplace's
Most of this year's assistant launches for home services run through marketplaces. That is not the only way in. In the recommendation step, assistants still pick businesses from their own sites, 97% of the time in our probe. Agent-ready booking makes sure the next step goes to your calendar too.
What we claim and what we do not
We test the path with our own agents and report whether an agent could complete a request. We report that as a completed test, never as a customer booking. The business numbers stay separate, as observed AI referrals, customers who said an assistant sent them, and our estimate.
Typical agent-ready booking vendor vs Picked by Agents
| Typical agent-ready booking vendor | Picked by Agents | |
|---|---|---|
| Where requests land | A marketplace or lead network that resells them | Your own site, scheduler and phone |
| Starting point | A widget install | An assistant run that shows where the agent got stuck |
| What is fixed | The booking button | The button, the facts an agent checks first, and the profile link |
| Test | A human clicks through once | Our agents attempt the request, repeatedly |
| Proof | Lead counts | Completed agent tests, tagged AI requests, three numbers kept apart |
Questions we get asked
- What is agent-ready booking?
- Agent-ready booking means an AI agent acting for a customer can request or book a visit with your business without a human on your side having to answer first. It covers the booking page, the facts the agent needs before it asks, the link from your Google profile, and a phone path a calling agent can use.
- Which assistants can book or call today?
- Google announced calling for home repair, beauty and pet care in May 2026. Meta Muse and Instinct added calling in September 2026. OpenAI is testing Get Quote for local services. Thumbtack and Angi run inside ChatGPT and Alexa+. Most of these are new and rolling out, so we test each path rather than assume it works.
- I already have online booking. Am I done?
- Maybe not. Many schedulers load only after a click or sit inside a frame an agent cannot read. In our sample the detection missed some of those, which is exactly the problem for an agent too. We run the path with an agent and tell you whether it finished.
- Will this replace my front desk or dispatcher?
- No. It gives an agent a clean way to send a request, and your team still confirms the job. Nothing is booked on your calendar that your process would not accept from a human.
- Is agent-ready booking included in every program?
- On Picked we rebuild the booking path end to end and tag AI sourced inquiries. On Named we fix the deciding fact and the profile, and flag the booking gaps we find. The free report shows whether booking is what stops you.
