Plumbing

Plumbing marketing for the plumbers AI assistants pick

A water heater fails at 6am and the homeowner asks an assistant who can replace it today and what it will cost. It reads your site and your Google profile and names about three plumbers. Most plumbing sites already let people book. What they hide is the price. We fix that, and we measure whether you get named every month.

Named by the assistants in 90 days or we work free

The water heater goes. The homeowner asks an assistant.

The question is rarely just find me a plumber. It is my water heater is leaking in 85254, who can replace it today and roughly what will it cost. Or we keep getting pinhole leaks, should we repipe and what does that run for a 2,000 square foot house. The assistant searches, opens a handful of plumbing sites, checks the Google profiles, and answers with about three names and a reason for each.

Those three names are the shortlist. The homeowner may check Google before calling, but a plumber who never appears in the answer never gets the call.

“The assistant was asked what it will cost. The plumber who answers that gets named.”

Plumbing is half fixed already. The missing half is price.

Plumbing looks different from most trades in our sample. ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and ScheduleEngine were already embedded on 42% of the plumbing sites we checked in Dallas and Phoenix, the highest of any trade. So the booking path is often there. What is missing is the fact the assistant was asked for.

Of the plumbing companies in that sample that were running Google ads, 69% still had no price or no online booking on the site. They pay for the click, then give the assistant nothing to quote.

  1. 01

    No water heater price

Call for a quote does not answer what will it cost. A replacement range by tank size, with install and haul away included or not, is what gets repeated in the answer.

  2. 02

    Repipes priced by phone only

A repipe is a big, researched decision. Homeowners ask the assistant for a ballpark before they ask anyone to come out. A range by house size and material is what it needs.

  3. 03

A booking widget the assistant cannot see

A scheduler that loads only on click reads as no booking at all to many agents. We make the path visible and completable.

  4. 04

A service area only in a map image

The assistant has a ZIP code. If your cities and ZIP codes are not in text, it cannot confirm you serve them.

  5. 05

A Google profile that disagrees with the site

Google profiles carry most plumbing citations. Hours, phone and services that differ from your site make you look unreliable.

What wins the pick in plumbing

In our probes across twelve home service verticals, 97% of the businesses an assistant named were picked from their own websites, not from a marketplace. For plumbing, every pick in our probe was an independent plumber's own site. The assistant reads what you publish.

The plumber who wins publishes the numbers homeowners ask about. A water heater replacement range. A repipe range by house size. A drain or diagnostic fee. Financing named where it applies. Then the openings, the ZIP codes served, and hours and a phone number that agree everywhere.

That matters more now because the marketplaces are moving in. In 2026 Thumbtack launched inside ChatGPT, Angi and Thumbtack went live in Alexa+, Angi joined OpenAI's sponsored agents pilot, and OpenAI's own quote request spec uses plumbing as its example. A plumber the assistant can answer from directly does not need a marketplace in the middle.

What we do for a plumbing company

  1. 01

    Run the real questions, monthly

Water heaters, repipes, slab leaks, drain emergencies, in your metro, through the assistants people use, against the plumbers who beat you. You see who got named and, in the assistant's own words, why.

  2. 02

Publish the price the assistant needs

Ranges you can stand behind, written so an assistant finds them on the first pass. We help you pick the numbers.

  3. 03

Make the booking you have work for an agent

If you already run ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, we make that path visible to assistants. On Picked we rebuild it end to end and tag AI-sourced calls and forms.

  4. 04

Fix the profile and the directories

Google Business Profile first, then Yelp and the directories the assistants cite, all consistent with your site.

  5. 05

    Keep measuring

A pick report every month with what moved and what broke as the assistants changed.

Who this is for

Residential plumbing companies doing water heaters, repipes, sewer lines and big repairs, from a single shop to a group with several branches. If you pay Google $40 to $75 a lead through Local Services Ads, the assistant's shortlist is the next channel, and it costs nothing per lead once you are on it.

Keep your agency. They run your ads and your SEO. We make sure the assistant names you, and we prove it.

Questions we get asked

We already have online booking. What is left to fix?
Usually the price. In our sample 42% of plumbing sites already booked online, the highest of any trade, but most still showed no price the assistant could quote. We also check whether the booking you have is visible to an agent at all, because schedulers that load only on click often read as nothing.
Will publishing water heater prices get us shopped?
You will be compared either way. The assistant compares whoever it can read. A range with what is included, tank sizes and a line on what moves the price protects you better than silence, which the assistant reads as a reason to name someone else.
Do homeowners really ask an assistant for a plumber?
BrightLocal found 45% of US consumers used an AI tool for local business recommendations in the past year, and 23% used one in their most recent local search. Home services got more assistant launches in 2026 than any other local category, from Google calling home repair businesses to Thumbtack and Angi inside ChatGPT and Alexa+.
Isn't Angi going to own this through ChatGPT?
Angi and Thumbtack are in the transaction layer, but the recommendation still leans on your own site and Google profile. BrightLocal found Google profiles carry 54% of plumbing AI citations and Angi 2.2%. We make your own pages the easiest answer.
How is the guarantee measured?
Before we start we agree the questions, the ZIP codes and the assistants, and record a baseline. We run them repeatedly so one lucky mention does not count. If you are not being named within 90 days we keep working free until you are.

See which plumbers the assistants name in your metro.

The report is free. It shows who they named for your customers' questions and where they stopped on you. Then we fix it, guaranteed.
