We asked Instinct this exact question in September 2026. Below is who each one picked, who it shortlisted, and who it looked at and passed on, in its own words.

“States it installs across Los Angeles County (which includes 90274) and details a code-compliant process (Manual J sizing, permits pulled in the homeowner's name, HERS verification) on a page read in full; note its pricing section is framed as market figures, not its own price list.”
“A genuinely local South Bay company (Wilmington/San Pedro address) serving Palos Verdes Estates for roughly 20 years, with NATE-certified technicians, Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Elite dealer status, free in-home estimates, and page content addressing the Peninsula's coastal salt-air and hillside specifics.”
“Its installation page explicitly lists Rancho Palos Verdes 90274 and 90275 as served, it is South Bay local, installs York split systems plus heat pumps and mini-splits, and carries a detailed installation testimonial from a Palos Verdes Peninsula customer.”
“Long-established (since 1945) with NATE-certified techs and a large current review base, but based on Venice Blvd in Los Angeles with no published prices, so it lost out to options with more explicit 90274 coverage.”
“Names zips 90274/90275 but is Los Angeles-based, has no published pricing, its 10% installation promotion expired 2026-09-30, and many of its testimonials are stamped the same single date (2025-09-24), which weakens the page's credibility.”
“Glendale-based (818 number) and the Rancho Palos Verdes page is generic templated content with no evidence of a real local presence or pricing.”
“Santa Monica-based with a thin, templated Palos Verdes Estates page, no pricing, and no specifics demonstrating real installation work on the Peninsula.”
“North Hollywood-based (818), and its own 'Location We Serve' list names only North Hollywood, Los Angeles and Granada Hills, so the Palos Verdes Estates page looks SEO-targeted rather than evidence of actual coverage.”
“The page contains broken template placeholder text ('{System}'), uniform same-tone testimonials and no address or pricing, so it reads as a low-quality templated SEO page.”
We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
