We asked Instinct this exact question in September 2026. Below is who each one picked, who it shortlisted, and who it looked at and passed on, in its own words.

“Its own page describes Manual J sizing, duct checks and qualifying 60-month 0% financing (its claims), and a state license name search showed an active license matching its site, with an A+ BBB profile showing 14 years, no complaints, no reviews and no accreditation.”
“Its own page publishes a $10,000 to $15,000 installed-system range and describes Manual J sizing, in-house crews and warranties (its claims), and a state license name search showed an active license matching its site, with an A+ BBB profile showing 24 years, no complaints, no reviews and no accreditation.”
“Its page publishes prices and financing and its license matched the state lookup, but its BBB-linked reviews and complaints are a corporate rollup showing 1.6 of 5 from 72 reviews and 142 complaints in three years, and its page contains an unfinished editing note.”
“Its llms.txt links an agent endpoint and directs AI clients on using site APIs, so it was set aside, and its license was not checked.”
We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
