We asked Instinct this exact question in September 2026. Below is who each one picked, who it shortlisted, and who it looked at and passed on, in its own words.

“Its own pages claim nearly 20 years, NATE-certified technicians and same-day service, and its BBB profile (address matches its site footer) shows A- with 0 complaints but 0 reviews and no accreditation, it is based in Wilmington outside Rancho Palos Verdes, and its license number is an unchecked claim.”
“Its own page lists Rancho Palos Verdes as a service area and 24-hour service, and BBB shows 28 years in business, 0 reviews and 0 complaints, but BBB lists it as not rated and not accredited, it is based in Torrance, and the BBB match rests on name, city and license number only.”
“Its page is generic marketing with no address, license number or years in business, and no BBB or license check was run.”
“Its page says it connects homeowners with technicians, so it looks like a lead-generation site, with no license or address shown.”
We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
