Picked

Colair, Inc.

colairinc.com
“'Best' is the worker's judgment of limited opened evidence, NOT a verified ranking (only ONE qualified pick; a thin top three was declined - disclosed). The strongest cross-checked evidence among four candidates: TWO active TDLR detail records (TACLA00006249C, Type AC, expires 04/12/2027; TACLA00126984C, Type AC, expires 02/15/2027; both COLAIR INC, Hidalgo County - matched by licence number, business name and county) plus BBB (matched by colairinc.com and Mission address - addresses differ in form: site 1221 East Expressway 83 Suite A vs BBB 1221 E Interstate Highway 2 Suite A; no corporate-wide notice seen): A+, accredited, 41 years, 0 reviews (no positive evidence), WEIGHED AGAINST 7 complaints in 3 years, 0 in the last 12 months (some Resolved, some Answered; repair/ductwork and billing - disclosed; allegations). Its site also lists McAllen, Edinburg and Corpus Christi offices; BBB figures are company-profile evidence, not McAllen-only.”

Cool Aid Air Conditioning

coolaidairconditioning.com
“Its site describes McAllen repairs and publishes licence number TACLA35238R, but the bounded searches did NOT locate a matching BBB profile (coverage gap, not proof none exists) and the TDLR business-name lookup returned a DIFFERENT Harris County company - so that licence stays UNVERIFIED and independent verification is missing. Its 'The service call is free when you have us do the repair.' is a conditional waiver, not a published fee (no repair prices).”

Cytech Heating & Cooling, L.C.

cytechheatingandcooling.com
“Long history (35 years) and strong BBB customer reviews (4.97/5 from 29) are offset by: BBB NOT Rated, NOT accredited; a BBB alert 'Misuse of BBB Name and/or Logo' (it advertises accreditation in flyers while not accredited); and its own About page says 'accredited by the Better Business Bureau' - a factual contradiction with BBB, disclosed (the claim was NOT used; this is a factual conflict, not an AI directive). 1 complaint in 3 years (Resolved, customer accepted); matched by website and 6840 N Interstate 69C Edinburg. Its current licence (published TACLA029045C) check MISSING (cap reached). Its $2,000 new-system rebate is not repair pricing.”

Climate Heating & Cooling

climatergv.com
“Opened pages describe McAllen repair service and claim more than 20 years of experience, but publish NO licence number and the bounded research did not establish a matching BBB profile (coverage gap) or verify a licence - least independent evidence of the four.”

Every month we asked

How we ran this

We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.

Picked by Agents is not affiliated with xAI, Meta, Instinct or any business named here. Recommended means the assistant recommended it. Nothing was booked.
