Picked

ColdWil HVAC / ColdWil LLC

coldwilhvac.com
“Worker-judgment order, NOT a verified ranking; THIN on independent evidence. Own page claims same-day McAllen repair and 24/7 emergency response (own claims, availability NOT verified). The ONLY pick with an official licence check this run: TDLR business-name lookup VERIFIED an active Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Contractor licence (TACLA00118223E, issued 02/16/2022, expires 02/16/2027) matching its site. Family-owned since 2020 (own claim); 217 Chester St, Mission; hours Mon-Sat 8-9, Sun 8-2 plus the 24/7 emergency claim. Own FAQ gives typical capacitor $100-$300 and compressor $800-$2,000 (SCOPED own-page figures, not a quote) - BUT other ColdWil copy gives $1,500-$2,500 and $1,500-$3,000 for the same work, so its ranges are INTERNALLY INCONSISTENT (disclosed); it also says both 'free diagnostics' and 'free diagnostics with repair' (condition unclear). No identity-matched BBB profile located in bounded searches (unverified, not zero). Homepage shows 'Powered by Lidexa AI' (a credit, not an AI directive - not a set-aside trigger).”

Millennium A/C

millenniumacllc.com
“Own McAllen page says visits are usually same day, describes no-cooling diagnostics and stocked repair trucks (own claims, availability NOT verified). Its homepage publishes a $74 diagnostic fee, credited toward an approved repair (SCOPED own-page figure, not a quote). Claims since 2010 (own claim). The service number changed between page reads and its McAllen page carries a mismatched 'What Brownsville Customers Say' heading (sloppy copy, disclosed). Licence: claimed on its pages without a displayed number; TDLR check missing (cap). No identity-matched BBB profile located (unverified, not zero). llms.txt not found.”
Shortlisted · choice 3

Freedom Air & Refrigeration

freedom-ac.com
“Own emergency page covers sudden loss of cooling in McAllen and its homepage publishes a McAllen address and Monday-Sunday 24-hour hours (own claims, availability NOT verified). Principal has served the Valley since 2009 (own claim; does not establish company founding). Free estimates only - no repair price. Licence claimed without a displayed number; TDLR check missing (cap). No identity-matched BBB profile located (unverified, not zero). llms.txt: readable, a descriptive page/blog index with filler, NO AI directive - kept. Repeated filler on the page not used as quality evidence.”
Passed

A&A HVAC LLC

aahvacrgv.com
“Its own page advertises a 24-hour McAllen emergency line, but the opened pages gave no contractor licence number or dated operating history, leaving less supporting evidence than the picks; 'Quick answer'/'Key takeaways' blocks carried no AI directive (not a set-aside trigger).”
Passed

Frontier A/C Heating & Refrigeration / Frontier Cooling & Heating

frontieraircon.com
“Despite a same-day-response claim and a BBB A+ accredited rating (19 yrs per BBB, entity matched by website and 1812 W Griffin Pkwy Ste B), the opened BBB reviews average only 1.5/5 from two reviews alleging billing and installation problems (zero complaints; allegations, not findings) - not shortlisted. It publishes TACLB17844C on its own site (unverified).”

Every month we asked

How we ran this

We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.

Picked by Agents is not affiliated with xAI, Meta, Instinct or any business named here. Recommended means the assistant recommended it. Nothing was booked.
