We asked Instinct this exact question in September 2026. Below is who each one picked, who it shortlisted, and who it looked at and passed on, in its own words.

“Its BBB profile shows A+ accreditation with zero complaints and a TDLR air conditioning/refrigeration contractor licence active to 4/3/2027, but it has only 4 BBB reviews and BBB shows new ownership dated 7/1/2026 (the older Kings Aire Inc licence expired 9/12/2026), so the 1980 start is not the current owner's track record; its best-AC-company tagline is its own.”
“Its BBB profile shows A+ accreditation and 4.86/5 from 120 reviews with a TDLR contractor licence active to 10/5/2027 and a 2007/2008 start, but it carries 8 complaints in 3 years (3 in the last 12 months; details not assessed).”
“Its BBB profile (a commercial-refrigeration category) shows A+ accreditation with zero complaints but zero reviews, its since-1981 claim conflicts with BBB's 2010 ownership change, its licence was not checked, and a guide listing shows a different address (unreconciled) - the weakest-evidenced pick.”
“Only its own site was opened: it claims to be licensed, bonded and insured, but no BBB lookup or licence check fit the query cap, so nothing was verified.”
“Nothing could be verified: BBB returned no profile, its own site did not load (a guessed domain returned a proxy 502), and only a ConsumerAffairs guide rating (8.8/10) was seen.”
We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
