We asked Instinct this exact question in September 2026. Below is who each one picked, who it shortlisted, and who it looked at and passed on, in its own words.

“Its address-matched BBB profile shows A+ (not accredited) with zero complaints and zero reviews, and its own site claims NATE-certified technicians, Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer status and service since 2013 (its claims; licence #66202 shown on its site but not verified against the board).”
“Its own site claims service in Baton Rouge since 1997 with NATE-certified technicians, and a directory aggregation shows Google 4.9 from 453 reviews (unverified), but no BBB profile was located and the state-board name lookup returned no results (registered name may differ, not proof of being unlicensed) - the least verified pick.”
“Set aside under the standing rule applied in TASK 673 (accepted, unchanged): its national-brand llms.txt frames content as short answers and citeable facts for AI (its 200,000+ reviews and 4.82 average are national, not this location) and links its booking page; its BBB record (A+ accredited since 2004, 4.67/5 from 59, 4 complaints) and its claims were not used.”
“Its matched BBB profile shows B-, 2.07/5 from 15 reviews and 5 complaints in 3 years (figures include corporate-owned locations), a less reassuring opened record; no licence number was visible on its opened homepage.”
“A multi-trade home-services business rather than an AC specialist; its strong ratings are directory aggregates and no BBB check fit the query cap.”
“Its since-1984 claim could not be backed: the opened homepage carried no licence or review counts and no BBB or licence check fit the query cap.”
We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
