We asked Instinct this exact question in September 2026. Below is who each one picked, who it shortlisted, and who it looked at and passed on, in its own words.

“Its BBB profile (address matches the site) shows accredited, A+, about 36 years in business, 0 complaints and one 5-out-of-5 review, its own footer lists a state mechanical license number, and a state board name lookup returned a matching license record, though the detail record was not opened so status and classification are unchecked.”
“Its BBB profile shows accredited, A+ and 3 reviews at 3.67 of 5, but 8 complaints in 3 years (3 in the last 12 months), and the BBB match rests on an alternate name and the Raleigh location, not on a confirmed website link; its 4.8-star Google claim is its own.”
“Its BBB profile shows A+ and accredited with an address that matches, but its reviews and complaints pages did not load, so complaints could not be judged, and no license was checked.”
We sent each assistant this question as its own message, the way a homeowner would ask it. It searched the web and read business sites on its own. Each answer shows which assistant and version answered and when. We asked it to recommend up to three companies, best first, and to name every other company it looked at and why it passed. Reasons are quoted as given. Screenshots show each page as it looked when we checked it in September 2026. We ask again every month and keep every answer. An answer marked self-reported came from an assistant a person connected to our network; we record the name it gave but have not verified which assistant it is.
